CHICAGO -- It has taken 11 starts for Shaun Marcum to finally feel like he is a part of the New York Mets. Danny Shelton Browns Jersey . Marcum pitched eight shutout innings for his first win of the season, and Eric Young Jr. had three hits and drove in a run to lead the Mets to a 3-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night. Marcum (1-9) won for the first time since Oct. 1, 2012, while pitching for Milwaukee. He avoided becoming the first to start a season 0-10 since St. Louis Anthony Reyes did it in 2007. "I wouldnt call it breaking the ice, Id call it contributing, finally," Marcum said. "Its nice to be able to do that every now and again. The guys played great behind me. Omar (Quintanilla) made some unbelievable plays, David (Wright) made some great play, Bucky (catcher John Buck) throwing a guy out at second. "If I didnt have those guys behind me, it probably wouldnt have looked as good as it did." Marcum improved to 4-0 with a 1.99 in his career against the White Sox. Marcum had lost his previous four starts and posted a 9.58 ERA in his last two outings. The veteran right-hander, who signed with the Mets during the off-season, faced just three batters over the minimum. He scattered four hits and pitched around two walks and was helped by good defence behind him. "Everyone has pride in this league," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "You dont get up to the big leagues without have a little bit of an ego and a sense of pride. Nobody likes to look up and see a zero in the win column under their name. "He knows, we know he doesnt belong there." Bobby Parnell pitched a perfect ninth for his 13th save in 16 chances. Chicagos John Danks (1-5) allowed three runs -- one earned -- on seven hits. He struck out seven and didnt walk anyone in 7 1-3 innings. Danks was hurt by a key error by Alexei Ramirez in the fifth and two poor throwing decisions by left fielder Dayan Viciedo. "Its a tough game to lose. Its just as much my fault as anyone elses. Its just the way it goes," Danks said. "Today I just had a focus to keep the ball in the ballpark and try to make them hit it on the ground." Alexei Ramirez had two of Chicagos four hits. Danks retired the first nine batters before giving up a leadoff single to Young in the fourth inning. Danks had retired 30 consecutive batters at home, dating to June 8 in a win against Oakland. In the fifth inning, Josh Satin led off with a single, and one out later moved to third on Andrew Browns single with Brown taking second on the throw. Juan Lagares followed with a hard grounder that got past Ramirezs glove at shortstop for an error that scored two runs. "These guys have been battling all year," Marcum said. "It seems like every time I take the mound, were down. For the offence to come out and get a couple of runs, and we were able to hold it, it was a team effort." With two outs, Young added an RBI single to give the Mets a 3-0 lead. Young is on a five-game hitting streak, and has a hit in six of the last seven games since joining the Mets on June 19. "I think he should be really proud of what hes done here," Collins said. "Hes ignited our offence a little bit, I think. Hes been getting on and getting in scoring position. I think hes made a big difference for us. "Hes played very well in the outfield, be it left or centre. Hes brought some energy to us and its been needed." White Sox manager Robin Ventura doesnt foresee taking Viciedo out of the lineup despite his struggles in the outfield and at the plate. "We only have so many guys. Its going to have to happen," Ventura said. Marcum benefited from a nice defensive inning in the fifth. Second baseman Daniel Murphy took a barehanded flip to turn a double play, and shortstop Omar Quintanilla threw out Tyler Flowers from the outfield grass to end the inning. In the ninth, Quintanilla made a sliding a stop on Ramirezs ball, turned around and made a long, strong throw for the second out of the inning. NOTES: Before the game, Mets starter Jeremy Hefner was scheduled to go ahead of the team to Colorado, where he will pitch a makeup game on Thursday. But flight problems changed that plan, and he was to travel with his teammates. Matt Harvey and Dillon Gee flew back to New York to prepare for starts against Washington on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Collins said the rest of the team isnt expected to get back to New York until 4:00 Friday morning. ... The White Sox are 1-4 in their last five interleague games play. The win came over New York on Tuesday. ... Young will be making a quick visit to his former team on Thursday. "Its going to be my first time being on the visiting side when it comes to playing against the Rockies. Im sure a lot of emotions are going to be involved. Im very excited. Ive been with that organization for nine, almost 10 years, its my first time going against them." Christian Kirksey Youth Jersey . The Canadian tennis players first full season on the WTA Tour was a strong one. She has risen to No. 32 in the world rankings and will likely be seeded at the first Grand Slam event of the 2014 season. Isaiah Crowell Youth Jersey . LOUIS -- The Tampa Bay Rays have placed right-handed pitcher Joel Peralta on the 15-day disabled list with an undisclosed illness. http://www.footballbrownsnflprostore.com/T-Shirts/ .J. Hardy finally got in on the fun Saturday, against a likely opponent. SEATTLE -- Scooter Gennett kept watching and wondering if the pitch he didnt think he hit that well just might carry far enough. Getting an assist from Seattle right fielder Michael Morse certainly helped. "Us little guys need all the help we can get," Gennett said. Gennett capped Milwaukees six-run seventh inning with a three-run homer off Morses glove, and the Brewers ruined the Mariners night honouring former star Ken Griffey Jr. with a 10-0 win on Saturday night. Griffey was inducted to the team Hall of Fame before the game, then saw his old club give up two big innings to the Brewers. The first three Brewers reached in the seventh without the ball leaving the infield, but Gennetts homer was the big blow. The Brewers added four more in the ninth against Seattles bullpen. "I think when the offence is doing that all the way through, hopefully you have a chance to score in more innings," Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke said. "I know we busted out with the one, but then we added on, which I thought was really good." Tom Gorzelanny had his best performance of the season for the Brewers. Making his seventh start after beginning the season in the bullpen, Gorzelanny (3-4) gave up just three hits in seven innings. It was the first time Gorzelanny threw at least seven innings and gave up zero earned runs since July 1, 2011, when he was pitching for the Washington Nationals. He struck out seven and allowed only one batter to reach third base. "Im not calling it a renaissance. Im just trying to do my best out there and have a good effort each time," Gorzelanny said. "Im not really thinking about what could happen or how things will shake out." Gorzelanny also pitched through two unique circumstances. The first came right at the start, as the beginning of the game was delayed by 17 minutes because the ceremony honouring Griffey ran long. Gorzelanny ran up into the batting cage underneath the stadium to make a few extra throws, but wasnt bothered by having to wait. Then he sat through the Brewers big seventh inning, but was able to finish the inning. "Its great just to get through the sixth inning, which Ive had trouble with this year a few times," Gorzelanny said. Seattle starter Hisashi Iwakuma (10-6) matched Gorzelanny for the first six innings, but quickly fell apart in the seventh. Carlos Gomez started the inning with a bunt single, diving around the tag atttempt of Justin Smoak at first base to reach safely. Corey Coleman Browns Jersey. Iwakuma said he tweaked his back on the play and struggled to get the ball down in the strike zone from then on. Caleb Gindl then chopped a grounder to the left side as Gomez was running on the pitch. Shortstop Brad Miller fielded the ball, but made the mistake of throwing to first when it was clear he wouldnt get Gindl. That allowed Gomez to reach third and put runners on the corners with no outs. Khris Davis then hit a shot down to third base that Kyle Seager backhanded. He tried to get Gomez at the plate but his throw was slightly high and Gomez was safe after crashing into catcher Humberto Quintero and knocking the ball free. Quintero stayed down briefly as the inside of his right knee collided with Gomezs right knee, but he remained in the game. Gomez said Quintero was unhappy being run into and let him know it when he came up for his next at-bat. "I dont mean to hurt any player, but if he is in front of the plate, what am I going to do?" Gomez said. "You dont have a second to think." Juan Francisco then doubled to left-centre on Iwakumas next pitch to score Gindl and give the Brewers a 2-0 advantage. Yuniesky Betancourt added an RBI single before Gennetts second homer of the season. Morse had a shot at pulling back the drive, but it deflected off his glove and over the fence. "I got it a little off the end. I thought it had a chance, but all I was trying to do was get a pitch up and put it in the outfield somewhere," Gennett said. Said Morse: "I felt like I had a good chance on it till I hit the wall and it kind of jarred my wrist back." Griffey became the seventh member of the teams Hall of Fame. It was an emotional ceremony that brought the first sellout crowd of the season for the Mariners. The ceremony was supposed to last about 30 minutes, but Griffeys speech was nearly 25 minutes itself and the entire ceremony went for nearly an hour. Notes: Milwaukee scored 10 or more runs in consecutive games for the second time this season. ... Griffey joined late Hall of Fame broadcaster Dave Niehaus, and former teammates Alvin Davis, Randy Johnson, D
